The revised version is due here in Australia from mid-2026 Polestar 3 has greatly improved underpinnings but a virtually untouched exterior.
Upgrades
The key change is the new 800V electrical architecture, which increases the maximum DC fast charging power from 250kW to 350kW. Polestar claims that charging from 20 to 80 percent can now be done in just 22 minutes, a 25 percent improvement.
All variants feature a new 245kW/480Nm permanent magnet synchronous motor at the rear, which has 25kW more power but 10Nm less torque than the existing unit. Both all-wheel drive models now feature an asynchronous motor at the front that can be switched off automatically to improve efficiency and range.

The entry-level variant, now known as Polestar 3 Rear enginehas a smaller 92 kWh battery that supports DC charging up to 310 kW.
The range according to the WLTP standard has fallen by 96 km to 604 km, which is mainly due to the fact that the soon-to-be-replaced single-motor variant has a larger 107 kWh battery. The downside is that the lighter battery and new motor have reduced the 0-100 km/h time from 7.8 seconds to 6.5 seconds.
Next comes this Dual engine with a claimed total output of 400kW and 740Nm. Compared to the previous model, the power has increased by 40 kW, but is 100 Nm less. It is capable of reaching the century in 4.5 seconds, 0.5 seconds faster than before.
Equipped with a 106 kWh battery that enables DC fast charging of up to 350 kW, the WLTP range has increased by 25 km to 635 km.
The highlight of the model walk is the Performance The dual motor system delivers a total of 500 kW and 870 Nm. As with the other variants, the power has increased (in this case 120 kW) but the torque has decreased (40 Nm less than before). It now accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, which is 0.8 seconds faster than before.
It also has a 106 kWh battery and despite the higher performance, the WLTP range has increased by 33 km to 593 km.
Not only is the 3 quicker than before, Polestar claims it’s more responsive to drive thanks to revised anti-roll bars and remapped steering.
In addition, the facelifted Polestar 3 also underwent brain surgery. Nvidia’s new Orin processor handles 254 trillion operations per second, which is almost 8.5 times more than the Xavier processor it replaces. Current Polestar 3 owners will receive a free upgrade of their cars to the Orin processor.
Prices and facilities
While there is a smaller battery for the entry-level rear-engine variant and a price increase for the performance model, the revised range is said to be cheaper, with all variants now equipped with the Plus package as standard – previously a $9,000 option.
| Price before on-road costs | |
|---|---|
| Polestar 3 rear engine | $116,700 (-$1720) |
| Polestar 3 dual engine | $131,100 (-$1620) |
| Performance of the Polestar 3 | $146,700 (+$2280) |
The Plus package includes a head-up display, an acoustic rear window, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system with active noise cancellation and speakers integrated into the headrests, electric steering column adjustment, soft-close doors and a folding trunk floor with luggage hooks.
Standard safety equipment on all models includes a 360-degree camera system with 3D view, a lane change assistant, a parking assistant and a corner speed assistant.
Options include a choice of Bridge of Weir leather seats, HD LED headlights and an electrochromic glass roof. The active air suspension system, which is standard on the Performance, is available on the Dual Motor at an additional cost.
Although Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller claims, “The upgrades to the Polestar 3 are so extensive that it’s like a completely new car,” the car remains visually unchanged, although there are a few new colors: Storm Dark Metallic Gray and Krypton Metallic Green.
