As far as special editions go, that 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLC200 Avantgarde is nothing special.
Mercedes-Benz has given the entry-level variant of its popular mid-size SUV a complimentary metallic paint finish and a set of rather unusual 18-inch “aerodynamically optimized” alloy wheels. These replace the lovely 19-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels found on the regular GLC200.
As the name suggests, the special edition also features the avant-garde exterior design already available on the GLC200 and is not offered with the sportier-looking AMG Line trim.

What makes the Avantgarde even more interesting is its price. At $85,400 before on-road costsit’s actually cheaper than the GLC200 on which it’s based, which costs $89,000 plus on the road.
Mercedes-Benz also offers the special edition with one statewide one-way fare of $84,490 until April 30, 2026.
The company says the Avantgarde will only be offered in “limited quantities” in Australia.
The Avantgarde’s standard equipment is otherwise the same as the regular GLC200 and includes:
- LED headlights with adaptive high beam
- Agility Control chassis with selective damping
- Proximity access with push button start
- Electric tailgate
- Windshield wipers with rain sensors
- Privacy glass
- Panoramic glass sunroof
- Electrically folding exterior mirrors
- Artico faux leather upholstery
- Heated and electrically adjustable front seats with four-way lumbar and memory function
- Leather-covered steering wheel
- 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
- Head-up display
- 11.9-inch MBUX touchscreen infotainment system
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Wireless phone charger
- Satellite navigation
- 9 speaker sound system
- Ambient lighting
- Dual zone climate control
Like the GLC200 on which it is based, the Avantgarde is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 150kW of power and 320Nm of torque. It is equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
The GLC200 was added to the local second-generation GLC lineup last year, reducing the cost of entry into the range by about $16,000.
The new GLC200 Avantgarde is a new edition of the special edition GLC300 Avantgarde introduced for 2025, which is also available here in limited numbers and at a lower price than the GLC300 on which it was based.
