This year’s CES was full of humanoid robots. From LG’s CLOiD to Boston Dynamics’ Atlas, the show floor was filled with robots that could do everything from housework to assembling cars. Now the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Honor wants to enter the market and plans to present its own humanoid robot at the upcoming MWC trade fair in Barcelona.
Honor has released a teaser that offers a glimpse of the robot, but does not reveal any details about its design or functionality. A report from Bloomberg suggests the robot could focus on consumer-oriented tasks rather than industrial or household applications, with shopping assistance potentially being a key use case.
This positioning would set it apart from many of the humanoid robots introduced earlier this year, which focused primarily on factory work or household chores, and instead point to a service-oriented device designed to interact with users in retail or other commercial environments.
Honor is expected to reveal more details during its MWC keynote on March 1st. In addition to the robot, the company will also reportedly unveil the Honor Robot Phone, which was first shown at CES in January. Honor will also unveil its next-generation foldable device, the Honor Magic V6, alongside the MagicPad 4 tablet and MagicBook Pro 14 laptop.
