After last year’s design overhaul and the addition of a retro, movie-style camera feature, Google is rolling out another update to Snapseed on iOS. The latest version improves the Snapseed camera, making it easier to access and adding new features.
When Google first introduced the Snapseed camera last year, users could only access it through a lock screen widget, Control Center, or the camera control button. With version 3.15.0, the company added a new camera shortcut in the top right corner of the app UI, allowing users to launch the Snapseed camera from within the app.
9to5Google reports that the latest Snapseed update also adds support for advanced controls. Users can now manually adjust ISO, shutter speed and focus by activating the new Pro switch in the top left corner. Once activated, three dedicated controls appear at the bottom of the viewfinder, as well as a dial positioned above the shutter button to fine-tune these settings. This brings the Snapseed camera closer to a retro-inspired shooting experience.
Google has also adjusted the layout to improve usability by moving the flash and zoom buttons from the top of the interface to the bottom of the viewfinder. This change is intended to make one-handed shooting more comfortable. The outlet adds that photos taken with the Snapseed camera will be seamlessly integrated into the app’s editing workflow, with each photo containing a fully editable stack within Snapseed, allowing users to revisit and adjust the images later without loss of quality.
The Snapseed camera continues to focus on creative expression, offering eleven different retro-inspired styles that recreate classic film aesthetics in real time. Easier access and newly added manual controls have made the feature a more powerful option for iPhone users who want more creative flexibility from a camera app.
The Snapseed camera is available for iOS with the latest Snapseed update. Unfortunately, Google has not yet brought the redesigned user interface or camera functionality to the Android version.
