Mercedes Benz has presented the second model in its ultra-exclusive preview Mythos seriesRelease images of a camouflaged vehicle – which could have a V8 powertrain – based on the CLE coupe.
The latest images show a camouflaged version of what the automaker describes as an “extremely new model” for the Mythos series testing in winter conditions in Sweden.
While further details have not yet been officially announced, Mercedes-Benz says the vehicle bears “a close resemblance to the popular CLE.”
The timing for the new model in the Mythos series has not been announced, nor have details such as price, features or drivetrain. The automaker’s media statement simply says it’s “on the horizon.”

The impressive coupe presented features a low-to-the-ground stance, with more aggressive front and rear bumpers, a rear diffuser and a striking rear wing.
Inside the test car, a roll cage is clearly visible, while the large trapezoidal exhaust outlets again indicate that it is powered by a version of Mercedes-AMG’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine.
Although not yet officially confirmed, the new CLE63 is expected to be unveiled later this year before hitting Australian showrooms in 2027.
Significantly, this is also expected to see the introduction of V8 power in the CLE, after the automaker said in early 2025 that it was developing “a next-generation, high-tech electrified V8.”
Since then, CLE prototypes with V8 engines have been spied in testing. It’s unclear whether this new engine will also be used in the C63 AMG, following the controversial switch to a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in the latest generation.
The CLE lineup, which replaced the two-door versions of the previous C- and E-Class, is currently topped with the Mercedes-AMG CLE53, which features a 3.0-liter mild-hybrid turbocharged inline-six.
Mercedes-Benz has since again opted for V8 and V12 combustion engines, while rival German brand BMW has also confirmed it will continue to offer petrol versions of its straight-six, V8 and V12 powertrains in future models.
The German luxury brand announced its Mythos Series sub-brand in May 2022 to focus on more expensive and profitable vehicles.
In December 2024, the first Mythos vehicle was presented: the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed based on the SL, of which only 250 vehicles were produced.
This dramatic roadster was described by the automaker as its vision of a road-going, two-seat, Formula 1-inspired machine, complete with the category’s “halo” roll bar.
With an output of 430kW and 800Nm from its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 – unchanged from the SL63 donor model – the PureSpeed is said to reach a top speed of 315km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 3.6 seconds.
Mythos series vehicles are only available by factory order through Mercedes-AMG headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany.
