Samsung is reportedly preparing some improvements to the Galaxy Ring’s connectivity notifications to provide users with more useful information. The Smart Ring already notifies users when the battery is low and when it disconnects from a phone. However, a change in development suggests more helpful warnings could be coming.
While browsing the latest version of Galaxy Ring Manager, Samsung’s companion app for wearables, Android Authority discovered new code strings that indicate upcoming improvements to these notifications. According to the findings, the disconnection alert that appears when the Galaxy Ring loses connection to a phone could soon include additional details such as the ring’s battery level at the time of disconnection.
The updated disconnect notification makes it easier for users to determine if the Galaxy Ring has lost connection due to a dead battery, distance from the phone, or a connection issue. This notification not only shows the battery level, but also reminds users to keep the ring charged and avoid completely draining the battery to maintain long-term battery health.
Samsung may also report if a Galaxy Ring is left unplugged for too long
In addition to improving the disconnect warning, Samsung is apparently also working on a new notification that shows how long the connection to the Galaxy Ring has been lost. The publication notes that this could be useful if users miss the initial warning, and that it could also prove useful when locating a misplaced ring.
Currently, these changes to connectivity alerts appear to be a work in progress and are not available in the latest version of the Galaxy Ring Manager app. As with other features discovered in APK teardowns, there is no guarantee that these notifications will appear to users. However, Samsung could introduce them in a future update if development continues.
