2026 Skoda Kodiaq mild hybrid announced as large fleet SUV

Skoda Australia has announced preliminary details of its upcoming meeting Kodiaq mHEVwhich confirms that it will replace a purely petrol-powered variant as a new model range to open up the range of the large SUV.

Coming out in early 2026 together with the new Octavia mHEV Kodiaq mHEV Select will replace the existing Kodiaq 140TSI Select with four-wheel drive in the base trim. It will be available as a five-seat variant with front-wheel drive as standard and seven seats as an option.

The mHEV will join Skoda Australia’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV), the Kodiaq PHEV Select, at the lower end of the Czech car brand’s large SUV range, but pricing has yet to be confirmed. The sportier Kodiaq Sportline and the flagship Kodiaq RS from Skoda remain unchanged as petrol-only variants.

“Skoda will enter 2026 with the widest and newest range of large Kodiaq SUV models, with something for everyone across the range,” Skoda Australia brand product manager Aline Carrullo said.

“The Kodiaq mHEV Select is aimed at customers who value value, smooth driving, quality features and great efficiency, while the PHEV Select takes the level of technology a step further. The fact that both Selects can be optionally equipped with a luxury Signature package makes this an ideal package.”

The mHEV Select differs from the previous 140TSI Select with a new style of 19-inch alloy wheels, while the existing leather upholstery has been replaced with cloth upholstery.

The Signature package is now available in both five- and seven-seat configurations. It also features a “suite leather interior” in black or cognac, intelligent parking assist, a surround-view camera, power front seats with position memory and massage, a hands-free tailgate and a premium Canton sound system.

There are also features such as a power driver’s seat adjustment, a power liftgate, heated front seats, a 10.0-inch digital instrument display, a 13.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
