I don’t have a big bedroom update today. I’m still trying to fix that wavy wall and finish the rest of the trim. I hope there will be a bigger update on this tomorrow. In the meantime, I would like to share some very small updates.
First, I looked for a fabric for the bench I want to use in the foyer just behind the bedroom doors. I think I’ve found the perfect one. After looking at several options, I chose this one from FabricGuru.com.
I chose this one because it’s a fun pattern and velvet. You all know how much I love velvet. And I like that this means the teal extends into the lower part of the foyer. But the teal on the bench then allows me to use colorful pillows on the bench that coordinate with the pink in the closet and the orange in the bedroom. I doubt I’ll stick with these specific pillows I already have, but that’s the general idea.
And then on the wall above I plan to hang our “watercolor” chapel painting from our wedding day that I have used in this area for several years. It used to be on the main wall, so I’m just moving it to that wall. This is the picture I’m talking about…
I’ve also been looking for a trim to use on the front edge of my teal velvet bedroom curtains for months. I’m not even exaggerating. It’s been months. I don’t know if you’ve bought curtain trims lately, but they are so expensive!! Every time I found one I liked, the total for the 18 yards I needed was over $1000. I found a few that were between $700 and $800, but even that seemed ridiculous to me. You all know me well enough to know that there is no way I would pay that for curtain trim.
So this past weekend I sat down at my laptop and decided to search until I found something that would work. All I kept thinking about was that I wanted to trim these curtains, and I didn’t want to settle for plain, solid teal curtains against solid teal grasscloth walls. I wanted a cut and was determined to find one.
Well, it took a few hours, but I finally came across this one from Luxe Fabric Co….
I specifically wanted something in the orange/coral range to match the headboard fabric and rug, and while this was far from my first choice, I think it will work perfectly. And the price was amazing at $7.85 per yard. At 3.5 inches wide, it’s wider than I was hoping for, but even though all the other options I found were ridiculously expensive, I’m pretty happy with this one. I think it will add just enough brightness to the edges of these curtain panels.
Although I did not add any decorations to the fabric panels in the model, you can use your imagination and “see” what it will look like.
So all the little details come together. I still need to find lamps for the bedside tables and then decide on bedding that matches the fabric of the headboard.
The biggest decision I still have to make is which dresser will sit opposite the headboard wall. It’s currently painted blue because it was in our previous bedroom, and that blue definitely won’t work in the new bedroom. I have no idea what color to paint this dresser. I don’t want teal anymore. Orange would be too much in my opinion. But painting a large piece of furniture cream or white goes against everything in me.
I have no idea what type of wood is underneath the original factory finish, but I’m tempted to pull the whole thing off and see if it’s a wood I can work with. If I can work with it, a natural wood finish may be the best option.
UPDATE: I forgot to add that the light for the foyer was delivered and it is even more beautiful in person than I expected! I can’t wait to install this!
