Did you know that Austin is starring in his very own Hallmark-style Christmas movie? Angels sing based on the book “When Angels Sing” by Turk Pipken. The Christmas film was filmed in Austin and Bastrop in 2012 premiered at SXSW in 2013 and later shown in Austin in the presence of Willie Nelson!
The film stars Harry Connick Jr., Connie Britton, Fionnula FlanaganLyle Lovett, Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson! You may also recognize Dana Wheeler-Nicholson, who played Tyra’s mother Friday Night Lights. Some local music legends also appear in the film. Ray Benson, Dale Watson, Charlie Sexton, Sara Hickman, Guy Forsyth, Carolyn Wonderland, Marcia Ball and Bob Schneider all make appearances.
The majority of the film was shot in Bastrop, although some Austin locations are also featured.

Explore Bastrop County highlights the most important filming locations. According to them, Walker’s house is actually the ES Orgain House on Main Street. Meanwhile, the church where Willie Nelson sings is the Bastrop Christian Church (1106 Kirchenstrasse).
