Textured Christmas Decor: A Cozy, Eclectic Home Tour

Christmas decoration for the dining room with handmade ornaments

When I shared my new DIY tin ornament with you last week, I hadn’t yet fully decorated the tree in our dining room. Below you can see how everything is done now. I love the combination of terracotta baking soda ornaments, DIY mushroom ornaments (from two years ago), and the new embossed ornaments. The mix of matte baking soda, velvet ribbons, embossed metal and painted mushrooms creates an interesting variety of textures on a small tree.

I treated myself to the faux mink fur that Willy sleeps on in front of the tree in our dining room because it’s just so soft. In my defense, it is on sale though

I found the two small honeycomb Christmas trees at Aldi two weeks ago and thought they would be perfect for my dining table. I definitely still love all the green accent colors in my dining room and kitchen.

Kitchen window decoration with ceramic houses

And finally, I bought a few white ceramic houses during my stay in Germany. I also ordered some here, but so far only one has arrived. I just love how they look in my kitchen window.

Unfortunately, they are incredibly difficult to photograph due to the lighting from outside and the lights inside the houses. My trick is to string lights through the rows of houses instead of putting up so many tea lights. At the moment there is only one house with a tea light because the string of lights wasn’t long enough.

My favorite house is from a German company calledräder that makes their ceramic houses by hand.

The mix of matte white and glossy ceramic adds another soft texture to my Christmas decorations.
