Ajit, Sandeep and Sunil star as U Mumba defeated Bengal Warriorz; Devank reaches a historic 500 PKL raid points

Chennai: Super 10s from Ajit Chouhan and Sandeep and seven points for Sunil Kumar guided U Mumba to a comfortable 48-29 win over the Bengal Warriorz at the SDAT Multi Purpose Indoor Stadium on Friday. It was a historic day for Devank Dalal in the final game of the Chennai leg, becoming the fastest in the PKL to reach 500 raid points, but his 12th consecutive Super 10 was canceled as he received no support from his teammates.

U Mumba made a strong start to their clash as their attacking duo Ajit Chouhan and Sandeep looked sharp from the start and consistently broke through the Warriorz defense to build an early five-point lead. The defensive unit led by Sunil and Zafardanesh complemented the attack well, keeping the Warriorz raiders under pressure and forcing mistakes at crucial moments.

The biggest highlight in the early stages was Devank’s historic milestone of becoming the fastest player to reach 500 raid points in PKL history. But despite Devank’s individual brilliance and some spirited attacks from Himanshu Narwal, the Warriorz struggled to find a rhythm against U Mumba’s compact line-up.

U Mumba maintained their dominance in the first half and steadily increased their early lead. Ajit led the attack, supported by Sandeep, while U Mumba’s attack pushed their opponents into the background. Their defense, led by Sunil Kumar, remained compact and disciplined. The highlight came when Zafardanesh’s timely tackle on Manjeet resulted in an ALL OUT and put U Mumba in the lead.

For the Warriorz, Devank continued to be the lone bright spot, adding crucial raid points and proving his class after surpassing the 500 raid point milestone. Himanshu Narwal offered brief support but the defense faltered against the U Mumba attack. At the end of the first half, U Mumba led the Bengal Warriorz 24-13.

U Mumba carried the momentum from the first half into the second half, consolidating control of the game. A crucial moment came when Sunil’s perfectly timed tackle on Vishwas S resulted in another ALL OUT and U extended Mumba’s lead. Their all-round dominance reflected a team that played with rhythm and confidence.

Devank and Himanshu Narwal showed flashes of resistance with a few spirited attacks but they found it difficult to find sustained momentum. Manjeet’s super tackle briefly gave the team momentum but U Mumba’s defense quickly regained control. Bengal’s defense lacked coordination, allowing U Mumba to dictate the tempo and territory.

U Mumba finished the game confidently and consolidated their lead in the final ten minutes to claim a comfortable victory. Ajit Chouhan and Sandeep continued to attack with precision and kept the Bengal defense under constant pressure. Their calm, disciplined play ensured U Mumba never lost control on their way to victory.

For the Warriorz, Devank fought hard until the end. Himanshu Narwal and Manjeet provided brief resistance but U Mumba’s defense remained rock solid. Bengal’s defensive errors and inability to contain the opposition attackers proved costly in the final stages. At full time, U Mumba defeated the Bengal Warriorz 48-29 to secure a dominant and well-deserved win.
