Tesla’s sales rose in November, but it’s set to be another bad year for the electric vehicle leader

Tesla had a record year in Australia in 2023, but its sales fell in 2024 and it looks like there will be another decline in 2025.

The Electric Vehicle Council has released sales figures for November Tesla And Polestarwhich show that both brands have increased compared to the same month last year. None of the brands report their sales figures to the Federal Chamber of the Automotive Industry for inclusion in the monthly VFACTS report, the next edition of which appears tomorrow.

Compared to last November, Tesla deliveries rose 4.4 percent to 2,702 units, while Polestar rose 119.7 percent to 167 units from an admittedly low base.

However, while Polestar was ahead with an increase of 42.6 percent in the year to date, Tesla’s deliveries in the first eleven months of this year amounted to 26,271 units. This corresponded to a decline of 24.4 percent compared to the same period last year.

It’s unlikely Tesla can make up enough ground in December to avoid a further decline in sales compared to last year, when the company delivered 38,347 vehicles.

Despite the launch of an updated Model Y midsize SUV – Australia’s best-selling electric vehicle (EV) – this year, declining sales of the Model 3 sedan continue to weigh on the brand.

In November, Tesla delivered only 433 Model 3s (down 51.2 percent compared to November 2024) and 2269 Model Ys – an increase of 37.3 percent.
