Nissan Australia And Premcar I took the covers off a rugged Navara warrior concept Based on the latest D27 generation ute, a taste of the next chapter of the locally developed off-road hero.
Based on the 2026 Nissan Navara Pro-4X, the new Warrior concept features a number of modifications that not only make the 4WD ute look more robust but also improve its off-road capabilities, similar to the D23 Navaras under the Warrior brand before it.
Highlights include a taller suspension (with Lava Red coil springs and dampers); a wider track thanks to upgraded 17-inch wheels and 32.2-inch all-terrain tires; revised suspension tuning “for both loaded and unloaded conditions”; as well as a protection package and distinctive “Warrior” styling upgrades.

The accompanying media release from Nissan and Premcar states that the D27 Navara Pro-4X Warrior concept “sets the direction for the next generation Warrior” and “we will have more to share about the Warrior program schedule next year.”
Navara’s standard release also states: “A new Navara Warrior is being developed by Premcar, with the Pro-4X Warrior Concept providing a preview of its potential design and capabilities.”
The new Navara Pro-4X Warrior concept is the latest chapter in the Japanese brand’s local partnership with Premcar, which has seen more than 12,750 locally remanufactured Nissan vehicles delivered to Australian customers since the first Navara N-Trek Warrior in 2019.
Warrior by Premcar-branded models undergo “extensive local development and testing, including on- and off-road validation in some of Australia’s harshest environments” and are all currently being reconditioned at the Victorian engineering firm’s facilities in the northern Melbourne suburb of Epping.
In addition to the Warrior program, Premcar has further deepened its relationship with Nissan Australia by being commissioned by the Japanese manufacturer to undertake a chassis localization program for regular versions of the upcoming D27 generation Navara ute.
According to Premcar CEO and Technical Director Bernie Quinn, the Melbourne-based engineering firm spent 12 months and over 18,500km tuning the new Navara’s steering and suspension to Australian conditions, identifying 137 damper codes and over 550 internal damper discs.
Additionally, compared to its Mitsubishi Triton twin, the Navara’s dampers (with internal rebound springs) are tailor-made for the Nissan, with components designed and manufactured in Australia.
As a result, Nissan and Premcar claim the Navara has improved steering response, feel and linearity, as well as improved primary ride control (how it handles large bumps and slopes) and secondary ride comfort (how it handles smaller bumps). The companies also claim that the Navara has improved handling, roll and pitch control and is easier to maneuver.
“The Warrior program has always been about understanding what Australian small car buyers really need. Not just what looks good in a showroom, but also what offers a real performance boost both on and off-road,” Mr Quinn said.
“This concept explores how we can apply six years of Warrior learning and customer feedback to the advanced D27 platform… (and) how Premcar’s proven approach to chassis tuning, wheel and tire optimization and performance enhancement could further enhance the D27’s already impressive performance capabilities.”
The core D27 generation Nissan Navara range will launch in the first quarter of 2026, starting with a pure automatic double cab range.
Pricing and specifications will be confirmed closer to launch, but we know that the highly specialized ST-X and Pro-4X models will launch alongside “entry-level models with a focus on essential features.”
