Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday unveiled a major healthcare and infrastructure expansion for Hoshiarpur, announcing projects worth over ₹385 crore.
The highlight of the visit was the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Shaheed Udham Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences, which is expected to be completed within two years.
₹268 Crore Medical College and Hospital with 300 beds
Key features of the project:
– Investment of 268 Crore
– Modern hospital with 300 beds
– 8 operating rooms
– Auditorium with 500 seats
– Training for 100 MBBS students per year
Facilities include:
– OPD Services
– MRI, CT scan, ultrasound
– General surgery, orthopedics, ENT, medicine
CM Mann said the institute will strengthen both healthcare and medical education in the region.
Expansion of healthcare at the grassroots level – To strengthen rural health care:
Foundation stone for a 30-bed health center
Will benefit over 40 villages
Equipped with laboratory, x-ray, OT, vaccinations and maternal care
Additionally:
– 7 health and wellness centers are to be developed
– ₹99 Crore Road Project to improve connectivity
The CM also launched a major infrastructure project: the 105 km Balachaur-Garhshankar-Hoshiarpur-Dasuya road
Cost: ₹99 crore
Advantages:
- Better connectivity between Chandigarh, Pathankot and J&K
- Reduced travel time between Delhi and Jammu
- Easier access for pilgrims visiting Anandpur Sahib, Mata Naina Devi and Mata Jwala Ji
Addressing the gathering, CM Mann said: The Government is committed to:
– Providing quality healthcare close to where people live
– Ensuring holistic development across Punjab
He also claimed that the government has accelerated development and fulfilled key promises in the last four years.

CM Mann criticized previous governments and claimed:
– Development has been neglected for decades
– Public resources were misused
– Political parties focused on self-interest
He said the current government is focused on the following:
– Transparency
– Welfare systems
– Infrastructure growth
