Context and intent are now more important than keywords
The May 2026 update places a greater focus on content depth and user trust. Sites that invested in expert-created content and strong EEAT signals saw measurable ranking gains, while thin content and keyword stuffing were hit the hardest across almost all industries.
The blogging playbook needs to change
Nearly 80% of top results shifted as Google’s latest update hit aggregators, boosting brands, official websites and data-rich sources. General listicles and articles in copied format are replaced with content from real practitioners. If you blog about a tool, use it. If you write a guide, show your own screenshots. First-person, experiential content is on the rise—and that’s actually good news for real bloggers who make the effort
