Visit the Fear The Walking Dead filming location in Pioneer Town

When we went glamping Yurtopia Wimberley As we headed into town for something to eat, we happened upon Pioneer Town on Ranch 7A. Boy, were we glad we did that. Not only because it’s the coolest little ghost town, but also because it was a film location Be afraid of the walking dead.

Remember the episode when June and John were in Humbug’s Gulch? John actually worked there at the time. It’s also where they met Dwight, played by Austin Amelio (who happens to be from Austin, Texas).

Located about 50 minutes southwest of Austin, Pioneer Town will make you feel like Marty McFly on a trip back to the Wild West.

The area has a working arcade and ice cream parlor, as well as an opera house, the pioneer chapel and a bottle house.

The Bottle House is made entirely of glass bottles, as suggested by Walt Disney himself! In the old town of the Old West, it is not uncommon to see bottle houses built as a monument to the city’s drinking prowess using beer or champagne bottles from the local saloon. This particular house is made out of soda bottles and is the only known soft drink bottle house in the United States.

There’s also an on-site cowboy museum where would-be pioneers can explore vintage antiques and more.

For those who want to make a weekend of it, 7A Ranch has a lovely resort on the banks of the Blanco River. A stay at 7A offers prime river access for swimming and fishing, as well as a pool and numerous hiking trails to explore. Some cabins are fully equipped with air conditioning and fully equipped kitchens, while others have open porches for an even more camping atmosphere. All the options are absolutely adorable.

Know it before you go:

Pioneer Town is free and open to the public. We strongly recommend dressing appropriately!

If you’re planning on staying for the weekend, pack up for swimming, fishing, kayaking – whatever floats your boat – on the Blanco River. Cabin prices vary depending on time of year and size. The latest tariffs can be found on the website.

Day passes for swimming, fishing and enjoyment are available all year round for each section of the river. The price varies between $5 and $10 per person depending on the time of year. And it’s free for children under 5!

From March to October, the ice cream parlor is open daily for lunch, except Wednesdays when it is closed.

The arcade is open during business hours, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m

The opera house can be rented for weddings, reunions or other events.
