World-renowned custom car manufacturer and parts maker Ringbrothers has unveiled its latest masterpiece: the “KINGPIN,” a redesigned 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 that expertly blends classic muscle car heritage with cutting-edge technology, high performance and luxurious craftsmanship.
Introduced at the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, KINGPIN is a testament to Ringbrothers’ commitment to automotive art and innovation. This unique Mustang features a modern powertrain and chassis, combined with thousands of hours of hand-crafted details, resulting in a vehicle that exceeds the factory model in both performance and design.
At the heart of the KINGPIN is a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine from Wegner Motorsports, turbocharged by a Whipple system and producing over 800 horsepower. Power flows through a Bowler Transmissions Carbon Edition six-speed manual transmission, sending the raw energy to the rear wheels. The engine’s roar is enhanced by custom Ringbrothers headers and a Stainless Steel Flowmaster Super 44 Series exhaust system, providing a soundtrack that is just as immersive as the vehicle’s performance.
Extensive metal work transformed the Roadster Shop FAST TRACK Stage III chassis back into a unibody structure, while the body was widened by two inches at the front and 3.5 inches at the rear. The wheelbase was extended by 1.5 inches and complemented by a custom-made roll cage for increased safety and rigidity. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires wrap around HRE Vintage Series 517 wheels and grip the asphalt with easily adjustable Fox RS coilovers and independent Roadster Shop FAST TRACK suspension at both ends. Brembo brakes ensure superior stopping power.
“The Mustang Mach 1 has always been an aggressive-looking car, and the customer insisted on creating a dark aesthetic,” said Jim Ring, co-owner of Ringbrothers. “We asked ourselves, ‘What would the final boss drive in a John Wick movie?’ That was the result. Everything was based on the original design of the Mustang, but we increased the drama, sharpened the lines and added a number of unique and 3D printed details to really make it stand out.”
The handcrafted body is wrapped in a bespoke shade of Bootleg Black from BASF, contrasted by a unique trim color called Grab-Her Green – a playful nod to Ford’s Grabber Green, optimized for a darker, malevolent undertone. Carbon fiber components abound, including a unique rear diffuser, lowered rear quarter panels with custom vents, hood, grille surround, lower front fascia and interior accents.
Inside, the KINGPIN’s cabin combines luxury and technology with upholstery and trim detailed with 3D printed and machined brightwork, a vintage Air Gen IV Magnum climate system, Dakota Digital instruments and a custom crushed carbon “ENYO” steering wheel from Ringbrothers.
“Over 5,500 hours were invested in building KINGPIN and perfecting its aesthetic,” added co-founder Mike Ring. “Every part of this car has been redesigned and updated with the original design features in mind. We are grateful to our team of trusted partners such as BASF, GENTEX, HRE Wheels and others for making this all possible.”
With KINGPIN, Ringbrothers have once again taken the art of customizing American muscle cars to a new level – fusing tradition, luxury and breathtaking performance into a machine worthy of a modern automotive king.
