Filming Locations Guide: Hocus Pocus

We will enchant you and take you on a journey to see it all Hocus pocus Filming locations! So grab your broomsticks and get ready to fly to Salem, Massachusetts.

Everyone is here Hocus pocus Filming locations!

Please note that Hocus Pocus 2 was actually not filmed in Salem. The following filming locations are from the classic 1992 film.

Allison’s House | 318 Essex Street

Max and Dani stop by Allison’s house while trick-or-treating at a Halloween party. One of Salem’s most iconic 18th century homes, this iconic home is the Ropes Mansion. It is owned by the Peabody Essex Museum and is beautifully decorated every Halloween. Don’t miss the beautiful garden in the back, which is free and open to the public!

Old Town Hall | 32 derbies square

Remember the infamous “I Put A Spell On You” scene where the sisters sing at the town’s annual Halloween ball? This took place in Salem’s Old Town Hall, which now serves as a museum for all things Salem witchcraft.

Dani and Max’s house | 4 Ocean avenue

We’ve always been a little jealous of the family that lives in the house where we filmed. Remember Max’s weirdly cool layout with the stairs leading to a rooftop terrace? It is actually a private home in a residential area. So please be courteous to residents when stopping by to take photos. Please also note that this location is not within walking distance from the city center. Maybe you plan for your driver to stop on the way into town.

Max and Allison’s High School | 86 Essex Street

Phillips Elementary School served as John Bailey High School Hocus pocus. It is no longer used, but fortunately it is still standing. This historic building features prominently in the film, particularly during the Sanderson Sisters’ hunt for Winifred’s book of spells.

City Park | 30Washington square

Many of the film’s exterior scenes were filmed at Salem Common, which is located directly across the street from the school. The most notable scene filmed here is when Allison returns Max his note. On the way home he rides his bike through the grassland.

Thackery Brinx’s House | 98 West Ave

The opening scenes with Binx as a human were filmed in Pioneer Village. It is a living history museum located in Forest River Park in Salem. Built in 1930, Pioneer Village is America’s first living history museum. Tours are offered seasonally from June to September, but make sure you have time as the village closes at 5:00 p.m. Plan accordingly as the village is also only open on certain days and is not close to the town square.

The Sanderson sister’s house

Unfortunately, the house shown in the film is not real. The interior and exterior of the gabled house, based on a mix of 17th-century New England domestic architecture such as the House of Seven Gables, was built on the Disney Studios stage. Well, because of the release of Hocus Pocus 2the Sanderson Sisters’ house was recreated and converted into a Airbnb. The house is located in the aforementioned Pioneer Village. Everything is inside Hocus pocus A fan might wish to place a large, bubbling cauldron in the center of the room!
