New Delhi: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) on Wednesday took a number of important decisions, including a long-pending increase in prize money for national championships, initiating the process of establishing an official TTFI league and approving equipment supply contracts following a tender process.
To help local players, the association approved a 10 percent increase in total prize money for all three national championships. After the revision, the prize money for the Senior Inter-State Nationals is ₹20.10 lakh, for the Youth and Junior Nationals it is ₹8.53 lakh and for the Cadet and Sub-Junior Nationals it is ₹5.09 lakh.
With the current commercial agreement with Eleven Sports expiring in August 2026, the EC unanimously decided that TTFI should establish its own official league. The association will soon publish new tenders to invite sponsors, with the rights awarded through a transparent tender process.
Members also agreed that each league contract will have a shorter term, limited to a maximum of five years, to allow the association to explore alternative sponsorship opportunities in the long term.
The meetings also approved awarding the equipment and official kitting contract to Stag Global following an assessment by a three-member committee. The contract has a term of up to three years.
India’s growing presence in World Table Tennis (WTT) is also reflected in the framework that governs privately organized international events in the country. For all WTT tournaments run by private organizers, the TTFI charges mandatory license fees, which are distinct from prize money, to ensure regulatory oversight and compliance with national and international standards.
The royalty structure includes ₹20 lakh for Senior Star Contender events, ₹15 lakh for Senior Contender tournaments and ₹10 lakh for Senior Feeder competitions. In the youth category, the applicable license fees are ₹20 lakh for Youth Contender events and ₹25 lakh for Youth Star Contender tournaments. This underlines TTFI’s structured approach to WTT events in India and its commitment to the orderly growth of the sport.
Citing the provisions of the National Sports Governance Act, 2025, the EC and the AGM also approved the removal of Senior Vice-President Dr. Dhevanathan Yadav, who has been imprisoned for over a year.
Furthermore, before the general meeting, the executive committee decided to suspend general secretary Kamlesh Mehta pending an investigation into the irregularities.
