It’s fun to see two worlds collide, especially when they share the same passion for design. Porsche and Smeg have teamed up to launch a limited-edition collection that brings some motorsport energy into the kitchen. It’s called Porsche x Smeg: Driven by Passion, Refined by Design and it feels less like a flashy collaboration and more like a thoughtful conversation between two design-focused brands about craft, tradition and how great design fits into everyday life.
The range includes everything from a fridge and a coffee machine for preparing coffee beans to a kettle, a toaster and a blender. But it’s the details that make this collection stand out. Each piece feels Porsche-like, clean, confident and built with intention, while still retaining Smeg and its mid-century personality. “At the heart of this collaboration is a shared philosophy: producing objects that are not only functional but also emotionally appealing,” says Stefan Büscher, CEO of the Porsche Lifestyle Group.
The highlight is a limited edition inspired by one of Porsche’s most important moments in motorsport history, the 1970 Le Mans victory with the 917 KH in Salzburg red. Both the refrigerator and the coffee maker have the same paint finish, topped off with #23 and white stripes. Only 1,970 examples will be made of each, a nod to the year Porsche won its first overall victory at Le Mans.
In addition to the Salzburg editions, Porsche and Smeg have also created two additional paint finishes: Carrara White Metallic and Shade Green Metallic, both of which are from Porsche’s extensive color palette. The fridge, toaster, kettle and blender all feature subtle Porsche touches, including matte black handles, minimalist accents and clean lines that reflect the shape and feel of a 911. Even the little things, like individually numbered buttons and temperature gauges, add that extra bit of detail without going overboard.
The most appealing thing about the Porsche x Smeg collection is that there is no pretension or exaggeration here, just two companies that care deeply about how things are made. Whether you’re pouring yourself your first cup of coffee or grabbing a drink from the fridge, you can feel a piece of Porsche’s design DNA.
