Bentley’s Mulliner division continues to push its most complex painting process to new levels, delivering its first “Ombré by Mulliner” collection to Bentley Rancho Mirage in California. The three-vehicle lineup, a Continental GT, a GTC and a Flying Spur, demonstrates the brand’s latest mastery of color transition by seamlessly blending two hues across each body.
The ombré finish was first publicly displayed at The Quail in August on a Continental GT Speed, followed by a Flying Spur in September. This latest regional collection marks the first time the process has been applied to a Continental GTC and expands the capabilities of Bentley’s bespoke program. It follows Rancho Mirage’s previous “Expressions of Texture” commission in 2024 and reinforces the dealer’s reputation as a champion of Mulliner craftsmanship in the United States
The Continental GTC features a striking Sunburst Gold to Orange Flame gradient inspired by the hues of Monument Valley and the Painted Desert. Its open configuration highlights the transition, which continues inside with Sunburst Gold trim at the front and Orange leather at the rear, accented by Tangerine stitching and pinstripes.
The Continental GT Speed takes a cooler approach, switching from light topaz to Windsor Blue, a color palette reminiscent of Monterey’s coastal landscape and the Pacific Ocean. Inside, Topaz leather fronts merge with Ocean Blue on the back, with Dragon Fly accents along the piping and stitching.
The Flying Spur Speed in metallic tungsten fading to onyx black is reminiscent of the Southern California night sky. The interior is a stark contrast: Porpoise leather at the front and anthracite at the rear, complemented by Stratos Blue accents.
Each model features 22-inch ten-spoke sweep wheels painted to match the two-tone bodywork, with different shades at the front and rear. Inside, painted veneers in Satin Beluga and color-matched running board supports extend the gradient theme throughout the cabin.
Creating the ombré finish is a painstaking 60-hour process at Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, England. Two specialists hand-apply multiple layers of paint to the doors, sills and roof to achieve a perfectly symmetrical color gradient. Because each pigment behaves differently, technicians continually adjust their spray technique to ensure a flawless and seamless transition between the two colors. The Ombré by Mulliner specification is now available worldwide through Bentley’s dealer network.
