Roseanne Barr starrer Meemaw has completed production in Central Texas. The limited series reportedly began filming in December 2025.

In addition to Barr, IMDB lists the other regular cast members: Omar Gooding (brother of Cuba Gooding, Jr.), Daniella M. Reyes, Patty Ross and Jaxson A. Compas. Jon Lovitz is listed in an episode and we’ve heard rumors that Randy Quaid is also in the mix. Oh, and that’s not all. Apparently Ken Paxton shows up too. We’ve also seen Drea de Matteo in a few pictures online, including the one below.
As for the filming locations, we’re not sure about many details, but Legacy Casting lists Spicewood and Granger. Old Taylor High School posted the following image on Instagram.
According to a Reddit stringThey were filming in Scholz Garden, where a group of actors in Orthodox Jewish clothing were seen standing around outside. Casting calls released in January 2026 called for a prayer group woman, hackers from China, trans women and an FBI IT agent.

Barr wrote the series with TV producer Allan Stephan, best known for his work at HBO Arli$ And Roseanne. According to a Variety itemsthe show is intended to be a “cross between.” The Roseanne Show And The sopranos.”
The Emmy winner, who now makes his home in Central Texas, revealed that the series will center on a “small-town Alabama farmer” who saves the United States from drug gangs and China. The protagonist will apparently also engage in “growing and selling drugs such as cannabis and magic mushrooms.”
“(It will contain) very offensive ideas and a lot of name-calling. I live on a farm with my daughter and her husband and their six kids. And they have goats running around their house and stuff,” Barr explained.
The comedian says it is loosely based on her former life as a “farmer” in Hawaii.
It appears there are only six episodes and we hear they will be streaming on a new streaming platform.

As previously mentioned, Barr, 72, currently lives in Central Texas on 30 acres in the Hill Country. She enjoys her time as a grandmother, driving a tractor and using a chainsaw to cut down trees, according to her son Jake Pentland – who spoke about his famous mother in an interview with Us weekly.
This probably comes as no surprise to fans of the Austin comedy scene, as she has participated in numerous sets of Joe Rogan’s Comedy Mothership, including Kill Tony podcast recordings.
