Fans are thrilled with the news that Practical Magic 2 happened. We were so excited that we just had to watch the original again. And as we watched the films, we couldn’t help but wonder about the real locations. So we put together this list.
Here are the filming locations for Practical magic!
The successful film with Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock is set in New England but was actually filmed in Washington State. Coupeville on Whidbey Island, to be exact. The downtown area may look a little different since the buildings were painted white for the film.
- Sally’s shop, Verbena Botanicals, was actually The Little Red Hen Bakery.
- Catch and Fry is actually the locals’ favorite Toby’s Tavern.
- The farmers market featured in the film was filmed in downtown Coupeville.
- The scenes from Lesher’s Hardware Store were filmed in what is now the Benson Confectionery building Kingfisher Books.
- The scene where Sally runs down the hill into town was filmed on a path leading to the town park.
The filming location you’d probably most like to visit is the Victorian-style mansion where the Owens family lives. Unfortunately it was just a prop. It was built for production on San Juan Island, Washington. Interior shots were filmed on a sound stage in Los Angeles.
Would you like to relive the magic of the film? This fall, why not host an outdoor movie night and show the film at one portable projector? Remember to watch out for bugs!
