Bentley is bringing back a legendary performance nameplate.
While Bentley is now known for its magnificent, ultra-luxurious range of vehicles that combine spirited driving pleasure with opulent design, technology and features, the historic manufacturer has roots that run deep in the world of motorsport. Bentley is one of the most successful manufacturers to ever compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and its legendary coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has recreated some of Bentley’s most iconic classic racing cars for collectors to experience in an authentic way today.
Supersports is a name that has been part of the Bentley lexicon since 1925, particularly in relation to its high-performance cars and racing operations. Since 100 years have passed since then, Bentley has decided to revive the Supersports moniker with a new model bearing that name. The final Bentley Supersports model was part of an earlier generation Continental GT produced for the 2017 model year. Powered by the legendary W12 engine, the Continental Supersports was the limited-edition flagship performance Bentley of its time.
Now a new super sports Bentley is coming onto the market, which will be presented next week in New York, more precisely on November 13th. Bentley says it will be the first ever rear-wheel-drive Continental GT, and that it will also be the lightest and most driver-focused version of the acclaimed grand tourer. The new Supersports, like the other cars with the “Supersports” suffix, will be produced in strictly limited numbers and will be only the fourth Supersports model ever. With a legendary racing history behind it, the unveiling of a new Bentley Supersport is a highly anticipated new chapter in Bentley performance.
