Subaru Australia has made minor changes Crosstrek small SUV range, led by safety and equipment improvements as well as the introduction of two new exterior paint finishes.
Prices have increased by up to $2,000 across all models, with the most significant improvement being the addition of the Subaru Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS), which can “stop the vehicle in a controlled manner while alerting other road users.”
Inside, the only notable change is the addition of a driver seat position memory function, now standard on the 2.0R, 2.0S and Hybrid S variants.
Additionally, buyers can choose between new exterior colors Sand Dune Pearl and Citron Yellow Pearl as cost options, replacing Offshore Blue, Oasis Blue, Horizon Blue and Sun Blaze Pearl.

This ongoing change marks the first time that Subaru’s new EDSS technology will be incorporated into the Crosstrek and follows the introduction of the new generation Forester, which debuted in 2025.
If the driver stops responding while driving, the EDSS will first apply the brakes intermittently to try to “wake them up,” then activate the vehicle’s hazard lights and safely brake to the side of the road. This only happens when the adaptive cruise control and lane centering systems are active, both of which are standard.
Otherwise, the Crosstrek is the same as before. In Australia it is still offered with two powertrains, using a four-cylinder boxer petrol engine – one pure petrol and the other mild hybrid (E-Boxer) – with continuously variable transmission (CVT) and all-wheel drive still standard.
This is despite Subaru offering its latest Strong Hybrid (S:HEV) system for the Crosstrek in its home market of Japan, where our mild hybrid is standard and the S:HEV is the more expensive alternative. S:HEV is currently only available in Australia with the Forester.
