Electric brand Zeekr has surpassed the sales figures of another Geely-owned brand Volvo in Australia for the first time after the arrival of the 7X SUV – a rival to the Tesla Model Y – in local showrooms.
November sales figures show Zeekr, which has been on sale here for less than 12 months, delivered 727 vehicles, compared to Volvo’s 629 – the first time it has eclipsed its sister brand.
Led by the 7X SUV with 682 sales, which first appeared in the VFACTS industry sales reports in November, it is more than three times Zeekr’s best monthly result of 216 in October 2025 and is just 20 sales below Volvo Australia’s best monthly result this year of 747 in September.

Volvo remains well ahead in the year to date and delivered 6,736 vehicles this year by the end of November; Zeekr is at 1,673. The premium brands Polestar and Lotus, which also belong to Geely, have delivered 2,189 and 60 vehicles respectively.
Nonetheless, Zeekr’s impressive November was enough to see the 7X lead the midsize SUV segment over $60,000 in the VFACTS segment, outperforming cars like the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Lexus NX and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
Tesla, which instead reports its sales to the Electric Vehicle Council, still topped all sales, delivering 2,269 Model Ys.
Volvo – whose history dates back to 1927 – is majority owned by Geely, which also owns Zeekr.
Founded in 2021, Zeekr has a design center in Gothenburg, Sweden, where Volvo is headquartered. The official launch took place here at the end of 2024 with the small luxury SUV X and the people mover 009.
The highest monthly sales to date were achieved in September, when 120 Zeekrs reached customers that month.
In October 2025, the 7X was officially launched, the brand’s Tesla Model Y-competing SUV, aggressively priced at $57,900 before on-road costs, $1,000 less than the cheapest Model Y.
Zeekr Australia reported 2,500 pre-orders for the 7X ahead of delivery in mid-October and said this Daily Sparkz Additional inventory was being worked on to ensure 7X customers here would receive their vehicle before the end of 2025.
The Australian arm had withdrawn its previously stated target of 3,000 sales in 2025, but Zeekr Australia managing director Frank Li said the high number of pre-orders for the 7X meant hitting that number was again at stake.
That would require some serious sales in December – 1,327 in fact, with a year-to-date total of 1,673 through the end of November.
The 7X was launched in three model grades, all using an 800V electric architecture, with the base single-motor, rear-wheel drive model producing 310kW/440Nm with a 75kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and a claimed range of 480km (WLTP).
A mid-range 7X Long Range – $63,900 before on-roads – uses a larger 100kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery, increasing range to 615km, with the same 0-100km/h acceleration of 6.0 seconds.
The flagship 7X Performance AWD is priced at $72,900 before on-road launch and features a second motor with 475kW/710Nm of power, a range of 543km and a 0-100km/h acceleration of 3.8 seconds.
In addition to the 7X, Zeekr Australia last month announced a second, cheaper version of its 009 people carrier, priced at $115,900 excluding on-road costs.
It’s not expected to increase significantly in volume, but will enter an increasingly competitive segment, including the Denza D9 – which has been confirmed to launch in Australia in 2026 by parent company BYD – and the LDV MIFA 9.
