The recent conflict between Disney and Google went beyond YouTube TV subscribers losing access to all Disney channels. Disney has also pulled its entire movie catalog from Google TV and YouTube and stopped supporting Google through its movie sync service Movies Anywhere.
Although the companies had resolved their disagreement by November 14 and restored all Disney channels to YouTube TV, Disney did not list its films again on Google’s digital storefronts until late last month. Almost a month later, users can finally link their Google accounts to Movies Anywhere to access movies purchased on Google Play and YouTube.
According to 9to5Google, affected users first received an email announcing the change and the option to reconnect Google Play and YouTube to Movies Anywhere. Users can click the link in the email to reconnect their account and regain access.
Reconnect your Google account to Movies Anywhere
If you haven’t received the email yet, you can manually reconnect your Google account in Movies Anywhere’s settings. To do this, open the drop-down menu in the top right corner, select “Settings” and then select “Manage Merchants” in the sidebar.
Click the “Connect” button next to the Google listing and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect your account. Once this is done, you should be able to access movies purchased on Google Play and YouTube again in Movies Anywhere.
With Google’s return as a Movies Anywhere partner, users caught in the middle of the Disney-Google dispute can breathe a sigh of relief. This update effectively removes one of the last remaining consequences of the standoff and returns things to normal.
