The Toyota Tarago could return from Japan, according to an unconfirmed report.
Best car The magazine – which is known to have reliable sources within Toyota – claims the company has started developing an all-new Tarago, originally sold in Japan under the name Estima.
Although there were several generations of the Tarago, perhaps the best-known model was the model sold in the 1990s – made famous by its futuristic egg-shaped appearance, which aided aerodynamics and reduced wind noise, as well as its modular interior and relatively good on-road handling.

While most people carriers up to this point were based on commercial vehicles, the Tarago was a standalone model with a mid-engine and either rear or four-wheel drive.
Accordingly Best car, The new generation Tarago is said to be based on Toyota’s GA-K platform, which is shared with the RAV4 and the Kluger, among others. Toyota also uses the GA-K to support other people movers, including the Alphard And Vellfire not sold in Australia.
According to the report, the reborn Tarago will be offered with an electric drive in addition to a hybrid engine.
These early depictions of Best car suggest the new model could adopt a similar design to the 1990s Tarago, complete with a steeply raked windscreen and egg-shaped bodywork.
With the Tarago and now the Granvia discontinued and only the HiAce Commuter remaining in service, Toyota has struggled to return to the greatness it enjoyed when the Tarago was one of the most popular people movers on the market in this country – with that segment now dominated by the Kia Carnival.
