Recent leaks suggest that Apple may finally be reconsidering its long-standing opposition to touchscreen displays on MacBooks. The company reportedly plans to offer a touch-sensitive panel for the long-rumored OLED MacBook Pro, which is expected to launch later this year or early next year. If you like the idea of a touchscreen MacBook but are tired of waiting for Apple to release it, Intricuit has a clever solution.
The company introduced an accessory called Magic Screen at CES that adds touchscreen functionality to existing MacBook models. The Magic Screen attaches seamlessly to the MacBook’s display using magnets and connects via USB-C to instantly enable easy touch input without the need for setup or third-party apps. However, advanced features and customizations are unlocked via Magic Screen’s companion app.
Magic Screen offers multi-touch support and even comes with a stylus, which Intricuit says provides pixel-perfect accuracy and pressure sensitivity for advanced workflows. For improved ergonomics, the accessory can even be used as a pen tablet when not attached to the MacBook’s screen.
The accessory offers touch input in a variety of apps. Intricuit has demonstrated it in action in apps like SketchUp, Miro, and Resolume Arena, as well as touch-sensitive games like Disco Elysium.
Magic Screen works with 2021 and newer MacBook models
Intricuit says the Magic Screen comes with a magnetic folio case that protects the accessory and securely attaches it to the MacBook so users can easily take it anywhere. The accessory is compatible with MacBook Pro models from 2021 and MacBook Air models from 2022.
The Magic Screen will soon be available via Kickstarter and is expected to ship to early backers starting in the first quarter of 2026. While Intricuit isn’t revealing pricing details yet, interested buyers can sign up for early access. Prices start at $139 for those who register early.
