There’s a $50 solution to your smart ring or smartwatch dilemma

Rogbid has launched the Fusion, a smart ring watch that tries to solve a familiar problem: do you buy a smartwatch for the screen or a smart ring for greater convenience? Priced at $49.99 on Rogbid’s website, it’s a stress-free experiment if you’re interested in both.

The core idea is simple. Fusion is a tiny smartwatch that you can wear on your wrist and then transform into a ring-style wearable watch by swapping the included bands.

A tiny smartwatch in terms of design

Fusion is small and light. Rogbid lists a 0.49-inch OLED display, a case measuring 20.6 x 21 x 8.2mm and a weight of around 14 grams, making these more of a novelty-sized watch rather than the chunky budget smartwatch norm.

This size invites comparisons with Casio’s G-SHOCK ring watch, but Fusion stands out for its everyday usability. You get a screen you can actually look at without having to commit to a full-size watch case.

Fitness basics and durability information

For a sub-$50 wearable, the feature list is ambitious. Rogbid says Fusion supports more than 100 sports modes and tracks common health and activity metrics including heart rate, blood oxygen, steps, distance and sleep monitoring. If you’re looking for specialty fitness trackers, check out the current offerings.

It also relies on durability language. Rogbid rates it with a water resistance of 5 ATM and states that it can operate in temperatures from around -20°C to 60°C. That’s a lot to promise in a tiny package, so real-world feedback will be important once people have it back on their fingers and wrists.

From wrist to finger

The special thing here is the exchange. With the nylon strap, Fusion behaves like a compact smartwatch. Switch to the Milanese style ring strap for an elegant, wearable ring bracelet available in black, silver or gold.

As for connectivity, Fusion pairs with Android and iOS via Bluetooth, and Rogbid claims a typical battery life of around five days, or up to eight days in standby mode. The main caveat is also clear: Bluetooth calling is not supported, so the aim is not to replace a watch that doubles as a phone accessory.

If you buy a real smartwatch, the lack of calling functionality can be a problem. If you want to test out a smart ring watch form factor on the cheap, pay attention to Fusion’s price and convertible design.
