The Syndrela-Divyanshi pair rises to number 1 in the world rankings

New Delhi: Syndrela Das and Divyanshi Bhowmick have achieved a historic milestone by securing the number one spot in the latest ITTF U19 Girls Doubles World Ranking released on October 21, 2025.

With 3910 points, the Indian duo leads the world rankings ahead of Wu Jia-En and Wu Ying Syuan from Chinese Taipei (3195) and the French Leana Hochart and Nina Guo Zheng (3170). This represents a notable achievement for Indian table tennis as six Indian girls were included in the world’s top 100 doubles pairs for the first time, reflecting the country’s rapid progress in youth development.

Syndrela and Divyanshi’s rise to the top is the result of a series of strong performances at national and international events. The pair have won gold medals at the WTT Youth Contender in Goa and the WTT Youth Star Contender in Tunis, as well as reaching semi-finals at the WTT Youth Contender in Berlin and Lima. Their chemistry on the table, combining Syndrela’s precise backhands with Divyanshi’s powerful forehands, has made them one of the most formidable pairings at the junior level.

Besides, several other Indian players have made a name for themselves in the rankings. Taneesha Kotecha and Sayali Wani are in 13th place with 1575 points after impressive performances at the Asian Youth Championships and WTT Youth Contender Doha. Suhana Saini and Shriya Anand are in 22nd place with 875 points after their silver medal at the South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships.

Another newly formed pair, Suhana Saini and Taneesha Kotecha, are at 31st position with 620 points after the pair finished second at the WTT Youth Contender Jaipur. Al Lis Gan and Stuti Kashyap are ranked 34th with 565 points after strong performances in Southeast Asian competitions, and Kheith Cruz and Vaishnavi Jaiswal share 36th place with the same tally after posting consistent results in the recent youth round.

This collective breakthrough marks a new chapter for Indian table tennis and highlights the country’s growing strength and depth at the junior level. General Secretary Kamlesh Mehta described it as a proud moment and noted that the success of Syndrela and Divyanshi had set new benchmarks of excellence for the next generation of players. With several international tournaments coming up, including the WTT Youth Contender events in Budapest and Tokyo, Indian girls are now well positioned to further strengthen their global presence and continue their rise on the world stage.
