Samsung’s Galaxy Watch range offers numerous health and fitness tracking features. In addition to monitoring basic data like step counts, heart rate, and blood oxygen levels, the watches can also monitor your sleep. And sleep tracking isn’t just about how long you slept.
You can also use the Samsung Health app to monitor different sleep stages and even detect snoring. However, the snoring detection function is not always reliable. Many users report inaccurate recordings or cases where it doesn’t work at all. Luckily, Samsung seems to have fixed this issue with the latest Samsung Health update.
Samsung has reportedly improved the snoring detection algorithm in version 6.31 of the app (via SamMobile) and should now be able to offer more accurate snoring detection. While the release notes don’t specify exactly how the new algorithm improves performance, they do point out a notable limitation.
According to a screenshot shared by tipster @theonecid on The update will reset the data so that only the snoring history recorded by the previous version remains visible in the app. However, snoring sounds recorded after the update will play normally.
Update Samsung Health via the Galaxy Store
Users can install the update by going to the Galaxy Store on their devices, tapping the hamburger menu icon in the top left corner, selecting Updates, and then tapping the update button next to Samsung Health. Snore detection is available on the Galaxy Watch 8 and older models since the Galaxy Watch 4 and requires the paired Galaxy phone to be connected to a charger to work.
If you’re having trouble with snoring detection on your Galaxy Watch, you can try installing the update to see if the updated algorithm improves accuracy.
