The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could bring a long-awaited wireless charging upgrade

What happened? It looks like the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could get a significant quality of life upgrade, as the folks at Android Authority have now found references to “super-fast wireless charging.”

  • The publication has discovered a new string containing the phrase “Super fast wireless charging” in a One UI 8.5 build.
  • Previously we had two strings: “wireless charging” and “fast wireless charging”.
  • While the former refers to a 5-10W charging speed, the latter appears when you connect a 15W wireless charger.

Why is this important? Given that Samsung is stuck with 15W wireless charging while the competition has moved to proprietary 50W wireless charging, a bump to 20W or 25W could be a significant upgrade for the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Why should I care? If you’re thinking about upgrading to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, faster wireless charging speeds mean it takes less time to charge the device using a wireless charger on your desk or a portable wireless power bank.

  • With support for enhanced wireless charging, Samsung offers buyers the opportunity to choose their favorite wireless accessories from magnetic snap-on chargers, stand chargers or other Qi2 accessories (that leverage the device’s magnetic profile), making everyday use more convenient.
  • In addition to faster wireless charging, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could also support 60W wired charging.

Okay, what’s next? The Super Fast Wireless Charging mode is due to a firmware teardown; The feature is not yet official. Therefore, there is always a chance that Samsung will change something before the final release or drop the feature entirely.

  • However, if all goes well and the company decides to stick with it, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could spend less time plugging or connecting to chargers and more time helping owners do what they want.
  • The device could probably adopt the Qi2.2 standard. The new report is based on previous rumors, making it more credible.
