HondaAustralia has secured additional stock of the ever-popular model Civic Type Rbut it is more expensive than ever and cannot currently be ordered directly by the public.
The Japanese brand has not yet confirmed how many “FL5” Type R examples have been brought down under in this latest batch Daily Sparkz expects most cars to be delivered to customers who have previously submitted an expression of interest (EOI) – as was the case when order books were last open in August 2025.
This means that while the latest information and pricing for the Type R is published on Honda Australia’s website, it is not possible to configure and order a new car – in fact, the website displays a message: “Due to overwhelming demand, all current stock has been exhausted.”
Additionally, the Civic Type R is now listed Drive away $85,500$6,500 more than last availability. It’s also $12,900 more than the current-generation model’s 2023 launch price.

Honda Australia confirmed this Daily Sparkz This part of the price increase is due to the inclusion of a carbon fiber rear wing, which is now fitted as standard on the hot hatch. This was previously a $5,300 option.
There have been no further technical changes, meaning the Civic Type R continues to use a high-revving 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 235kW of power and 420Nm of torque.
This is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox with automatic rev matching, with drive sent exclusively to the front wheels.
Other performance benefits include adaptive dampers, Brembo brakes, a limited-slip differential and the signature three-exhaust exhaust system, as well as 19-inch black alloy wheels, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and red-trimmed sport seats.
On the tech front, it comes with a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a 10.2-inch cockpit-style digital instrument display.
Because of its higher price, the Civic Type R is significantly more expensive than a Toyota GR Corolla (from $67,990 excluding on-road costs) and the Volkswagen Golf R ($71,990 excluding on-road costs).
It’s not clear when more examples of the FL5 Type R will arrive in Australia or how many will be available. There is no indication as to when production of the current model will end, although production has ceased in Europe and orders for the base model have been suspended in the Japanese home market.
