The Northern Warriors overtake the Gladiators with a comfortable six-wicket win

Abu Dhabi: The Northern Warriors bounced back strongly with a 6-wicket win over the Deccan Gladiators in the Abu Dhabi T10 2025, chasing 88 with 10 balls remaining. With just one win from their first three games, the Warriors needed a boost and fulfilled their top mission.

The Gladiators struck first and were rocked early when Trent Boult dismissed Nicholas Pooran and David Wiese from successive balls. Tom Kohler-Cadmore (58 off 31) provided stability in the innings, hitting seven boundaries and two sixes to take the score to 40/2 after four overs. Just as Marcus Stoinis seemed ready to join him, Boult intervened again, denying Shahid Bhutta with a sharp one-handed catch, sending Stoinis back and disrupting the momentum.

Kohler-Cadmore continued to search for boundaries but wickets were falling at the other end, with Andre Russell, Laurie Evans and Jordan Thompson all falling cheaply. In the final over, Kohler-Cadmore launched two sixes to build a strong game to a half-century before elimination as the Gladiators finished on 87/7.

Chasing 88, the Warriors flew out of the blocks through Johnson Charles (41 off 17), whose four fours and three sixes took them to 43/0 in just two overs. His dismissal of Noor Ahmad in the fourth over slowed the innings and Muhammad Jawadullah’s double strike, removing Hazratullah Zazai and Shimron Hetmyer, tightened the contest to 60/3 after five overs.

Noor Ahmad then bowled Dinesh Chandimal but the Warriors remained within reach of the modest target. Thisara Perera kept the innings steady before Azmatullah Omarzai finished the job by hitting boundaries to Andre Russell and Marcus Stoinis to secure victory in 8.2 overs and hand the reigning champions a resounding defeat.

Salt and David fuel the Bulls’ power play before Amir sparks the Qavalry’s comeback

The UAE Bulls lost Tom Moores in the first over when Mohammad Amir struck immediately, but Phil Salt (31 off 15) countered by blasting him for a six, taking the Bulls to 26/1 after two overs. Rovman Powell (23 off 14) joined the momentum with a four and a six in the fifth over to take the side past fifty before losing to Khuzaima Tanveer.

Tim David (31 off 11) then took the innings further, hitting three fours and a six as Salt fell to a miss from Abbas Afridi. At 93/3 after seven overs, the Bulls looked set for a big total but Amir flipped the script. He caught Kieron Pollard lbw, removed Tim David and later dismissed Iftikhar Ahmed to complete a crucial four-wicket haul.

As the runs dried up, Tanveer concluded the innings with two run-outs and error-free bowling, restricting the Bulls to 109.
