The Galaxy S27 Ultra could finally deliver the camera upgrades you’ve been waiting for

Samsung is preparing to launch its next-generation Galaxy S series devices. According to recent reports, the company is planning to host a Galaxy Unpacked event later this month to unveil the Galaxy S26 series. Even though the official announcement is still weeks away, a steady stream of leaks has already revealed several key details about the upcoming devices.

Recent leaks suggest that the top-of-the-line Galaxy S26 Ultra will only bring minor camera upgrades. The phone is said to have a 200MP main camera with a larger aperture, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, a 12MP secondary telephoto camera and a 12MP selfie shooter.

Since the camera hardware is very similar to that of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the upcoming flagship may offer limited incentives for users thinking about upgrading. A new leak gives potential buyers another reason to wait another year.

According to a recent post from trusted tipster Ice Universe on X, Samsung is apparently planning major camera upgrades for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. While the device is expected to retain the same telephoto cameras, it could come with new main, ultra-wide-angle and front sensors.

Big changes after another year of incremental upgrades

There is no information about the exact specifications, the leaker only claims that Samsung will replace these sensors on its 2027 flagship. Given that the Galaxy S27 series is still over a year away and is likely in early stages of development, this information should be taken with a grain of salt.

For now, the focus remains firmly on Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 series. Although leaks have given a first glimpse of what to expect, the full picture will only become clear when the company officially unveils the devices. Until then, potential buyers will have to wait and see whether the S26 range offers meaningful improvements or whether more exciting changes arrive with next year’s models.
