Subaru Australia has released a new special edition BRZ Coupe with a striking yellow exterior color and a number of minor improvements – but you have to be quick if you want one.
Based on the top model BRZ tS, only 95 examples of the new model Subaru BRZ tS Kiiro will be available in Australia as part of an extremely limited run of just 350 units.
The BRZ tS Kiiro can now be ordered at this price $53,590 before on-road costs$800 more than the standard TS, which costs $52,790 before on-roads.
One of the most notable innovations on the flagship tS – a variant lightly tuned as standard by the Japanese brand’s in-house STI performance department – is the headline “Sunrise Yellow” after which the model is named.

Other improvements include 18-inch matte black alloy wheels, Ultrasuede seat upholstery with yellow perforations, yellow interior stitching and a matte black “Kiiro” badge inside and out. Of course, there is also a plaque inside with the build number of each model.
Like the broader BRZ range, the tS Kiiro is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.4-litre four-cylinder boxer engine with unchanged power and torque.
The same 174kW of power and 250Nm of torque are sent exclusively to the rear wheels, while the Kiiro is available with both a six-speed manual and automatic gearbox.
It retains the STI-tuned suspension and Brembo brakes of the standard tS, as well as the special “Sport” driving mode that was added in 2025.
“Kiiro” (黄色) means “yellow” in Japanese kanji and is meant to symbolize energy and optimism, with Subaru saying this special edition BRZ is designed to capture the joy of driving.
Subaru seems to be adopting the yellow trend worldwide. Several special editions with the bold livery were launched in Japan and the US, and although some are referred to as “STI Sport” models, none can be considered true STI halo cars.
The brand introduced limited production versions of the BRZ tS and WRX tS in the US in late 2025 in the “Series.Yellow” range, painted in Sunrise Yellow and featuring similar cosmetic upgrades to the Australian tS Kiiro, including black wheels and unique upholstery. Each was limited to 350 units.
Recently, Subaru Japan introduced several special models at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon. In addition to the WRX STI Sport # prototype, there was the Levorg STI Sport R-Black Limited II STI Performance station wagon and the WRX S4 STI Sport R-Black Limited II STI Performance station wagon, both available in Sunrise Yellow.
Lengthy names aside, the Japan-only yellow cars get black exterior accents, black alloy wheels and Recaro seats with unique yellow perforated upholstery, while the WRX is available with a large STI-style rear wing. Various cosmetic STI accessories are also installed as standard.
