Kia has confirmed its brand new model EV2 The entry-level electric vehicle (EV) will make its world debut on January 9, 2026 at the Brussels Motor Show in Belgium.
Accompanied by some teaser images that show the vehicle under a dark sheet, with its silhouette and light signatures showing through, the Korean brand’s media release states that the new baby electric vehicle “combines emotional design with modern technology and connectivity, as well as smart electric vehicle features and a spacious and customizable space.”
“With its striking appearance and attractive body shape, the model’s design expresses its progressive character and perfectly embodies Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ philosophy,” Kia Europe added.

The angular, low-set LED running light and taillight signatures are reminiscent of the design language of the latest Kia models such as the EV3 and EV4 small electric SUVs and the large EV9, while the boxy side profile is reminiscent of the old Kia Soul.
We already have a good idea of what the EV2 will look like, as the Concept EV2 shown at the brand’s EV Day in Barcelona in February seemed pretty close to production-ready, at least from an overall design standpoint.
In terms of dimensions, the EV2 will be the electric companion to the Stonic compact crossover, Kia’s smallest existing SUV. Kia has previously described the EV2 as a B-segment SUV, which suggests a length around the 4100mm mark.
It’s unclear what will power the EV2 and what platform it will be based on, but Daily Sparkz assumes it will ride on the cheaper 400V version of Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP chassis architecture that underpins the EV3, EV4 and EV5.

Unfortunately for Australia, the EV2 is unlikely to come Down Under as it is manufactured at Kia Europe’s Slovakia factory and is therefore subject to local import duties and higher shipping costs.
“We would like to offer EV2, however production from Slovakia presents some hurdles in terms of logistics and costs, making this highly unlikely,” a Kia Australia spokesperson said in February.
Kia Europe has also confirmed that the EV2 will be unveiled in Brussels alongside the new flagship GT versions of the EV3, EV4 Hatch and EV5 – none of which have yet been revealed in full production form.
In October, Kia introduced the EV4 GT with a camouflaged prototype that featured a more aggressive body kit, 20-inch alloy wheels with 245/40 Michelin Pilot Sport tires and eye-catching lime green accents.
Britain’s Autocar reported at the time that the EV4 GT is powered by a twin-motor electric drivetrain with an output of around 300kW, enabling a 0-100km/h acceleration time of five seconds. The cockpit should also have sports bucket seats and lime-colored accents.
The smaller EV3 GT is said to have a slightly weaker 250 kW dual motor drive and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under six seconds. Less is known about the EV5 GT, but we expect the EV4 GT’s powertrain to fit under the larger SUV body, although it’s worth noting that Kia Australia’s Chinese-made models differ from the European-made Korean models.
Further information will be announced when Kia Europe holds its press conference on the morning of January 9th at the Brussels trade fair, which takes place in the Belgian capital from January 10th to 18th.
