TCL launches the X11L SQD Mini LED TV to tackle the flood of RGB LED TVs

The TV industry’s biggest topic at CES 2026 was RGB or Micro-RGB technology for display panels. Samsung and LG are the big players in this field, and TCL has also joined the ranks. But the brand wants to stand out from the crowd with a different generation of TVs, pioneering SQD mini-LED TVs.

The secret sauce

The label’s latest is the TCL At the heart of SQD Mini-LED technology are two secret recipes – Super Quantum Dots and the CSOT UltraColor Filter, which is based on much smaller 5-nanometer color particles.

During a press conference, TCL explained that the end goal is to achieve extremely high color accuracy at the pixel level. On the technical side, TCL also touts a peak brightness of an astonishing 10,000 nits, a contrast ratio of 7,000:1, and 100% BT2020 color coverage.

These TVs also feature a new Halo control system that allows for more precise control over dimming zones (of which there are 20,000) and bright patches, while mitigating the infamous color wash effect. The end result is a TV that delivers extremely sharp images, accurate colors, deep blacks and high brightness.

What else is on the table?

The TCL LED TV will soon add support for Dolby Vision 2.0 Max output via a software update, while the audio engineering has been done in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen.

“For the first time, consumers can add an optional wireless subwoofer without having to purchase an audio system or soundbar,” the company says. The entire case is just 0.8 inches in diameter and has extremely narrow bezels. That puts it in the same league as LG’s new Wallpaper and Samsung’s 130-inch Micro RGB TV. Google TV takes care of the software, with full Gemini integration.
