New Delhi: India opted for a mix of experience and fresh talent as the All India Tennis Association (AITA) named a five-member core squad, supported by three reserve players, for the Davis Cup World Group Qualifiers against Netherlands on February 7 and 8, 2026 in Bengaluru.
The selection committee, led by former Davis Cup player Nandan Bal, has picked India’s top singles player Sumit Nagal as the leader, with Karan Singh and rising youngster Dhakshineswar Suresh strengthening the singles options. Veteran campaigner Yuki Bhambri and doubles specialist Rithvik Bollipalli complete the main squad, underlining India’s focus on a strong performance in both singles and doubles.
In a sign of forward planning, the committee has also named three reserve players – promising youngster Aryan Shah, doubles player Anirudh Chandrasekhar and in-form player Digvijay Pratap Singh – to ensure that the team has enough support in case of any injuries or last-minute changes. The selection was made following a virtual meeting on December 23, 2025, where rankings, current form and player availability were closely reviewed.
The selection panel comprising Nandan Bal, Balram Singh and Mustafa Ghouse was joined by India’s non-playing captain Rohit Rajpal, team coach Ashutosh Singh and AITA Hon. General Secretary Anil Dhupar during the discussions. Rajpal will also serve as captain for this game, while Ashutosh Singh will once again take over the coaching role and ensure continuity in the support team for this important home game.
With home advantage at the DLTA-supported event in Bengaluru and a mix of battle-tested names and hungry newcomers, India will be hoping to put up a strong fight against a solid Dutch line-up and secure progress towards the World Group.
