Spotify launches audiobook charts in the US and UK, giving listeners a new way to discover what’s trending. Updated weekly, the charts highlight the most popular audiobooks overall and by genre based on listening activity and engagement on the platform.
The new rankings are available to both free audiobook users and Spotify Premium users via the audiobook hub. To access it, users can tap the search button, select the “Audiobooks” tile, and scroll down to the “Dive Deeper” section. According to Spotify, the charts are designed to make it easier for users to find popular tracks while giving authors and publishers a new channel to reach their audiences.
Duncan Bruce, Director of Audiobook Partnerships and Licensing at Spotify, said of the new feature: “As we’ve proven with the music and podcast charts, demand grows when content is more accessible, easier to discover and enjoy. We’re excited to bring this to audiobooks to give users, publishers and authors even more ways to discover what’s trending on Spotify and connect books more closely to culture in real time.”
Spotify first launched audiobooks on its platform in 2022, with the aim of making the app a central hub for all types of spoken word content alongside music and podcasts. Since then, a few features have been added to improve the audiobook listening experience.
Recently, a useful feature called “Page Match” was released that allows users to scan a page from a physical book and instantly jump to that location in the audiobook. Late last year, the platform released a handy recap tool that provides short summaries to help listeners catch up on previous chapters, making it easier to engage with longer titles.
