Sony has announced an upcoming audio launch with the promise of a “new way of listening,” already piquing the curiosity of fans eager to find out what Sony has in store for them next week.
The teaser comes from Sony’s official YouTube channel and hints at an audio announcement scheduled for January 21st at 4:00 p.m. UTC (8:00 a.m. PST). There are no product names or specifications, other than a short message and a blurry image indicating that this is not a routine update.
What Sony could point to
GSMArena reports that Sony is most likely preparing to unveil the LinkBuds Clip (WF-LC900). These earbuds are said to have an open-ear design that wraps around the earlobe rather than sitting in the ear.
An early listing from an Indonesian retailer has already revealed the design as well as several key features. The earbuds are expected to support adaptive volume control, 360 Reality Audio, and the background music effect seen on previous LinkBuds models.
The same listing points to two microphones with AI-based noise cancellation for calls, as well as bone conduction sensors. Users can also get 10-band EQ in the Sony app, support simultaneous connection to two devices, and get an IPX4 rating for splash resistance.
Battery life is said to be nine hours when playing on the earbuds, with the total playback time increasing to around 37 hours with the charging case. The LinkBuds Clip is expected to launch in four color options: black, beige, sage and lavender, with a reported price of around $230.
There have been a lot of rumors surrounding the Sony WF-1000XM6 lately. Considering how much people loved the Sony WH-1000XM6, the anticipation for Sony’s next flagship wireless earbuds is pretty high. However, the latest rumors suggest that these will arrive later, possibly on February 27, 2026.
Sony is keeping details secret for now. With launch just days away, the mystery won’t last long and Sony will soon have to show whether this new form of hearing is a real game-changer or just a reinterpretation of familiar audio technology.
