Samsung’s first AR glasses are coming in 2026 with immersive multimodal AI experiences

Samsung has just revealed some interesting details about its 2026 lineup, confirming that a new foldable device will be launching in the second half of the year. The company also announced plans to launch its first AR glasses, which will offer “rich, immersive multimodal AI experiences.”

Seong Cho, head of marketing for Samsung’s mobile division, explained Samsung’s product strategy for the year during the company’s fourth-quarter 2025 earnings conference call, saying the company plans to deliver these new AI experiences “through various form factors, such as next-generation AR glasses.”

This is the first time that Samsung has officially confirmed a launch window for the long-rumored AR glasses, which have been leaked repeatedly in recent months. According to the leaks, the company appears to be working on two variants with model numbers SM-O200P and SM-O200J, although it is not yet clear whether both will launch in 2026.

Leaked specs suggest the AR glasses could feature a Qualcomm AR1 chipset, a 155mAh battery, and a 12MP camera with autofocus. The model, due to launch in 2026, is intended to compete with Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses and may include transition lenses that change color depending on lighting conditions.

Samsung’s AR glasses could be aimed at the mainstream

Samsung introduced its first XR glasses, the Galaxy XR, in October last year. The glasses cost $1,799, making them unaffordable for most consumers. Based on the leaked specs, the upcoming AR glasses could be significantly more affordable, potentially bringing Samsung’s next-generation wearable to a wider audience.

However, it is still too early to say whether this will actually be the case and these leaks should be taken with caution. Samsung hasn’t confirmed any details about the AR glasses yet, but more information is expected in the coming months.
