The 2026 Renault Trafic The series was launched in Australia. The updated range of commercial vehicles offers improved technology and powertrain upgrades.
The manual gearbox option is gone, as is the Trafic’s six-speed dual-clutch ‘EDC’ gearbox – replaced by a nine-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, which Renault says is smoother and has helped reduce fuel consumption.
The Trafic’s 2.0-litre turbodiesel four-cylinder engine retains its output of 125kW and 380Nm, but has been updated to meet Euro 6 emissions standards.

Renault claims fuel consumption has fallen by almost five percent – from 6.5L/100km to 6.2L/100km.
Excluding the short wheelbase Trafic Premium, which has increased by $2,500, the cost of the Trafic range has increased by $1,500 in 2026 – following a rise of $490 in 2025 – and the discontinuation of manual variants means the cost of entry to the Renault van is now $3,500 higher.
Renault has also reduced the range, now offering just five variants to choose from – two short wheelbase (SWB) models and three long wheelbase (LWB) models – compared to eight in 2025, including three SWB and five LWB configurations.
Maximum braked towing capacity is now 2,500kg on all models, while adaptive cruise control is standard on Premium and Lifestyle variants.
The announcement follows several changes to the Trafic in 2025, which included – among other changes – the standard fitment of a factory-fitted steel partition with window for Pro and Premium models, as well as a middle seat that doubles as a workstation with a hidden laptop compartment.
In the premium variants there is a second hidden compartment under the passenger seat, in which building materials of up to 2.9 meters for short-wheelbase vans or up to 3.3 meters for long-wheelbase vans can be stored – while the seat is in use.
When the passenger seat is not in use, the Trafic can accommodate lengths of up to 3.5 or 3.9 meters.
The updated Renault Trafic MY26 is scheduled to arrive in Australian dealers from February 2026.
