A Queensland tour operator has added a constellation of Mahindra Scorpio SUVs to its fleet.
Drop Bear Adventures, which operates three-day guided 4WD tours of K’gari (Fraser Island), has upgraded its fleet with six new Mahindra Scorpio seven-seaters as part of the company’s commitment to improving its sustainability, safety and environmental policies.
The award-winning travel company’s founders, Mark and Hana Robinson – affectionately known as Papa Bear and Moma Bear – carefully considered various options to replace some of their aging Toyota LandCruisers.
Ultimately, they chose the Scorpio for its exceptional off-road capabilities, flexible interior space, proven reliability and low running costs.
In collaboration with Mahindra Australia, their vehicles have been specifically modified for the challenging off-road trails and sandy beaches of K’gari. Therefore, every Scorpio is equipped with a 2.0-inch suspension lift kit, reinforced underbody protection for the oil pan, fuel tank and AdBlue tank, as well as a front push bar.
“We tested a Scorpio under extreme load with around 500kg on its back and it handled the soft sand just fine,” said Mark.
“It didn’t get stuck. It just glided over the dunes. This gives us peace of mind when our guests – many of whom have never driven a four-wheel drive before – take the wheel.”
“(Mahindra) understood what we were doing out here in K’gari,” Hana added. “Their support has been extremely helpful and we feel like we made a really good choice.”
