Queensland Police are appealing for help after a spate of Toyota LandCruiser and RAV4 thefts

The Queensland Police Service is investigating a spate of Toyota LandCruiser and RAV4 thefts across Brisbane in recent weeks and is appealing to the public for information that could help recover almost 50 stolen vehicles.

In one incident, four LandCruisers were stolen from the same premises in the Brisbane suburb of Moorooka, with one of the vehicles recovered in Willawong, just a few suburbs further south.

The QPS is still searching for the remaining three LandCruisers stolen in the incident and has asked the general public to provide any dashcam footage or other details that could lead to their recovery.

The four Moorooka LandCruisers are part of a dramatic rise in the number of stolen Toyotas in Brisbane. Authorities reported 47 thefts of RAV4s and LandCruisers over a three-week period from October 20 to November 12, 2025.

Multiple sources, including the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ) and insurance company Suncorp, claim the LandCruiser was the most stolen car in Queensland in 2024.

The QPS is investigating whether there is a connection between these recent thefts. When contacted by Daily SparkzThe QPS did not comment further on the situation and instead referred to a media release about the thefts.

The courier post reported a 101 per cent increase in vehicle thefts in Queensland in the 10 years from 2015, the largest increase in vehicle thefts in Australia over that period – since then eclipsed by Victoria.

This comes after Victoria Police faced a stolen car epidemic that saw a 40 per cent increase in reported vehicle thefts in the 12 months to June 2025, taking these crimes to their highest level since 2002.
