Price and technical data of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 2026: Smaller battery deleted from the newly mixed range

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 The electric vehicle (EV) range has been drastically reduced for the 2026 model year (MY26), and the base price has increased by $6,400 – following a range-wide price increase of $2,300 for MY25.

Hyundai has dropped the 63kWh battery and 125kW electric motor configuration that previously opened the electric SUV range, leaving all Ioniq 5s with an 84kWh battery.

The range has been reduced to just four variants: the base rear-wheel drive Ioniq 5, now with a new 19-inch alloy wheel design; the Ioniq 5 Elite RWD (formerly Dynamiq); the all-wheel drive N Line Premium (replaces the Epiq); and the flagship N.

The old Dynamiq and Epiq were previously both offered with either rear or all-wheel drive and optionally with the N Line package.

New to the range is Hyundai Digital Key 2.0, which allows you to unlock and start the car using your smartphone or watch. However, the process differs depending on whether your device has Near Field Communication (NFC) and Ultra Wide Band (UWB).

For devices without UWB, you have to tap it against the door handle to unlock the car and against an NFC wireless reader inside to start it. In contrast, with UWB you don’t have to take out your phone at all.

This digital key can be stored on one device and shared with up to 15 compatible devices and does not require a cellular signal to work – good news if your smartphone is empty!

But while there are new technologies with the introduction of the Hyundai Digital Key 2.0, one technical feature has been deleted: the previously available digital side mirrors.
