Official Suzuki Fronx safety recall after seat belt failure triggers ‘urgent investigation’

The Suzuki Fronx has been recalled after crash testing revealed rear seat belt failure and received a one-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), released yesterday, December 22, 2025.

Suzuki Australia has also issued a statement advising Fronx owners to immediately avoid using the rear seats.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the left rear seat belt retractor mechanism may not function as intended. This may result in excessive belt length release in the event of an accident or under heavy braking,” says the official recall notice released today.

“If the left rear seat belt does not function properly in the event of an accident or heavy braking, this may increase the risk of injury or death to the vehicle occupant.”

“Suzuki Motor Corporation and Suzuki Australia are conducting immediate and urgent investigations,” the company said in a statement.
