A happy Australian customer has received the first copy Maserati MCXtrema He’s on his way to our shores just in time for Christmas, but don’t expect to see him on local roads.
Because this MCXtrema – one of only 62 examples produced worldwide – may not be registered or driven on public roads. Instead, you need to keep an eye on local race tracks.
The customer took delivery of their MCXtrema in Modena, Italy and chose a unique paint job using Blu Nobile and Bianco Audace Matte colors to match the white-on-blue Trident logo on the hood.

Given the exclusivity of the MCXtrema and the customizations on offer, Maserati says no two examples of the supercar will be the same.
The MCXtrema supercar is a track-only version of the MC20 and is the brand’s most powerful car to date. It generates 540kW of power from a retuned version of Maserati’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 ‘Nettuno’ petrol engine.
That’s more than the 463 kW output of the MC20 road car. Its torque value of 730 Nm remains unchanged.
Maserati claims to be able to achieve the higher performance through new turbochargers, a racing exhaust and a powerful combustion tuning.
The twin-turbo V6 is mated to a six-speed sequential transmission with a racing clutch and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The drive takes place exclusively via a mechanical self-locking differential with limited slip on the rear wheels.
The MCXtrema features a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque and a new double wishbone suspension. It also features four-way racing shocks, springs and a stabilizer bar that can be fully adjusted and tuned to suit different track conditions
The race car is equipped with custom-made 18-inch center lock forged aluminum wheels that can be combined with either racing slick or rain tires.
The braking power is provided by ventilated carbon fiber racing brakes, which are equipped with remote adjustment of the brake preload.
The track-only coupe is 5199mm long and 2045mm wide, which is 530mm longer and 80mm wider than the regular MC20. It also has a dry weight of approximately 1300 kg.
While Maserati has not shown the interior of this particular example for Australia, the MCXtrema is fitted with an FIA-spec roll cage, safety nets, a fire extinguisher and an integrated safety roof hatch to comply with racing regulations.
There is also a fixed racing bucket seat with four-point attachment and a six-point racing safety belt as well as an adjustable racing pedal box, an adjustable steering column and air conditioning. A passenger seat is optional.
In front of the driver there is a carbon fiber steering wheel with an integrated 5.0-inch central display, buttons and rotary selectors.
Maserati unveiled the MCXtrema as a concept in August 2023 at Monterey Car Week in California, before the brand immediately confirmed that the exclusive supercar had sold out. The first customer copy was delivered to the USA a year later.
Since then, MCXtremas have been delivered to customers in the US, UK, France and Taiwan.

“Next year marks the 100th anniversary of Alfieri Maserati’s class victory at the Targa Florio in Italy in 1926 with the Maserati Tipo 26, the first car built by Maserati.”
