Maserati Grecale: The medium-sized luxury SUV that doesn’t stand out

There’s something about a Maserati It makes you stop, look and just applaud. The thrilling sound, the quintessentially Italian design and the iconic Trident emblem born from Grand Prix racing and impeccable craftsmanship.

The Greek takes that same magic and distills it into something everyday yet unmistakably special. It’s Maserati’s answer to the midsize luxury SUV segment and, in true Trident fashion, refuses to blend in.

Available in three flavors – the entry-level GT, the ‘tuned’ Modena and the supercar-derived Trofeo – the Grecale range is designed for three very different types of drivers, although they all share the same DNA: unique performance, craftsmanship and character.

The Grecale GT is your starting point, although there’s nothing beginner-friendly about it. It is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with mild hybrid technology, which delivers around 220 kW of power and 450 Nm of torque and transmits drive to all four wheels.

It’s not sloppy at all and is fast enough to run to the shops and put a grin on your face, with 0-100km/h acceleration in around 5.6 seconds.

What’s most impressive, though, is how refined and balanced it feels. The driving experience has a calm composure that makes the GT perfect for city life, but when given a clear route it responds immediately and the signature Maserati soundtrack blares through the cabin.
